Competition Rules and Regulations

  • Gymnasts will be advised as soon as possible of the time, date and venue for each competition.

  • Required to meet the nominated coach in the designated area on time and in full uniform. Lateness may result in the gymnast not taking part.

  • From this point on the gymnast is in hands of the coach and parents should leave them to get organised.

  • Gymnasts should be dressed in their leotard and tracksuits at this point in time.

They should have:

Tidy hair - out of eyes and if its long it should be securely tied, ribbons (club colours only) should be securely tied.

No Jewellery-studs and sleepers only

Grips -if required

Knickers and bra should not be showing (knickers must be black)

  • Make sure everything is clearly marked- the club takes no responsibility for any personal effects lost or left at venue.

  • Our gymnasts are permitted  to have water at competition. They are not allowed to eat during the competition.

  • During the competition, the gymnasts is under the control of their coach. Parents are unable to enter the competition arena. In the case of serious accident the senior coach from the club on the day will be the responsible person and may deem it necessary to make contact with the parent/ guardian, but this is the only time that parents/ guardian would be permitted entry to the competition arena or contact with gymnast.

  • UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES CAN FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY BE USED. You can take photos of your child, but it is prohibited to take photos of other gymnasts.

  • At the competitions some, all, or no scores will displayed. It is our club policy that scores are  NOT given to the gymnasts or parents. All scores for the year are given to gymnasts on presentation night. Our emphasis is strongly pointed to doing the best they can -not on scores and winning, as this can cause unacceptable behaviour from gymnasts/ parents.

  • Both gymnasts and  parents/ guardians have a code of behaviour within the sport and we would remind everyone that they are also representing the club, when at competition and other events, and any adverse behaviour can have ramifications for everyone within the club and the club as a whole.

  • Some competitions can run overtime, unfortunately we don't have any control over this. The judges do their best to keep things moving- remember without judges there is no competition.

  • There is definitely NO CONTACT allowed with the judges by either gymnasts or parents. Even coaches have very strict regulations monitoring contact with judges. Even though the judge concerned maybe judging for our club they are required to do this on a completely neutral basis, and are protected by the competition code.

  • All travelling, accommodation etc. is the responsibility of parents/ guardians unless specified by head coach. We encourage car-pooling, shared accommodation etc. between families. In the past we have suggested a figure of $20.00 for petrol and the actual accommodation costs for anyone requiring a ride etc. DO NOT ask coaches to take children with them as the club rules specify that they are prohibited from doing this under our child protection procedures.

  • Most competitions charge an entry fee for spectators.

  • Clubs usually conduct their competition as the main fundraiser for the year, so we strongly encourage families to support their efforts  in the canteen, BBQ etc.
